Livestream Recap, August Update Edition: August 12, 2016

Greetings Adventurers! Here’s a small recap of the topics we covered on today’s livestream!

The August Update is coming on August 17 – Next week we’re releasing the August Update and it’s going to contain two major new features: the highly-anticipated split event schedule and a public testing phase for the Skill Queue and Korean versions of skills. What’s this about the Skill Queue Public Test? – In order to really see how Skill Queue works, we need to test it in mass combat and with real players playing on real servers. We’ve been testing and working on the system for months, and we’ve done focused tests with players on the ETS server (thank you ETS testers!) but now it’s time for the system to visit the live servers.

We’ll be monitoring the system, and your feedback, closely, but we want to hear what all of you think of the new skill queue for at least a month. Next week, before the update, a thread will be opened to collect your thoughts and feedback on this new style of combat. We look forward to your thoughts and opinions after you get a chance to try it out.

For those of you who are unsure what Skill Queue and Korean versions of skills are, this new system will allow ArcheAge North America and Europe to behave more like its Korean counterpart in terms of combat. Currently, we’ve taken 4 skills and changed their functionality to improve battle for those with high ping times. They are Triple Slash, Rapid Strikes, Endless Arrows, and Mana Stars.

In our current version, a press of a key will unleash all three strikes of Triple Slash at once, or a flurry of Rapid Strikes, or a volley of Endless Arrows. In the new version, a single key press will result in only one action being performed – a single slash, a single arrow, etc. This will allow players to better weave skills together during combat, such as executing a heal between Triple Slash hits.

Skill Queue will allow players with higher pings to continue to fight on the same level as their lower ping counterparts. This way no one is at a greater disadvantage while in battle. The system will also dynamically speed up or speed down combat depending on who is involved and what their ping times are. After this update, you may notice some skills will fire more slowly when you are alone versus when you’re in a mass combat situation. That is the skill queue attempting to adjust your combat speed to match the others in combat.

What’s coming in the ArcheAge Anniversary Update and Player Q&A – We ended our livestream with a barrage of information that covered many major topics in the community. We talked about the September Update and some of the upcoming additions in that update, including the ability to wear underwear, sort your teleport book, set the way you auto-roll on loot received by a party, migrate your base statistics to further customize your character, increase the speed on submarines, add awesome weapon glows to regraded weapons, and more.
